RMHC Goalie Gauntlet Scheduled for February 5, 2023
SEATTLE, January 10, 2023 — 2023 marks the 25th anniversary of the RMHC Hockey Challenge. As a part of this year's anniversary celebration, Ronald McDonald House Charities of Western Washington and Alaska (RMHC), the Seattle Thunderbirds, and the Breakaway Crew, have announced the first ever RMHC Goalie Gauntlet: Rebound Tournament on Sunday, February 5, at accesso ShoWare Center in Kent, WA.
After years of focusing on individual goalie vs. skater matchups, the Breakaway Crew is upping the stakes – we invite teams of skaters to face our goalies in games of rebound, tournament style. Capacity for the event is limited to twelve (12) teams. The winning team will be invited to participate at first intermission during a Seattle Thunderbirds game, as part of the larger RMHC Hockey Challenge events.
Over the years, the Breakaway Challenge supporting RMHC has raised over $100,000. The Breakaway Crew looks forward to keeping up the tradition of lighting up goalies, showcasing incredible hockey players of ALL ages and skill levels – all to help keep families close. Registration for the tournament will open Friday, January 13 with early bird opportunities available prior to that date. Tournament fees are 100% tax-deductible and will go directly to RMHC.
