Breakaway Challenge 2022

• We provide goalies.

• You donate and get a bucket of pucks.

• Pick a goalie to face.

• You score (celebration encouraged).

• Goalie pays out $5 for every goal allowed.

Everybody wins!

Note: We are on synthetic ice this year, so skates are welcome, but not required. Folks have the option of using either skates, or their own shoes. Shoe covers will be provided on site if you do not have your own. Helmets required to step on ice.

Play Games

Goalie vs. Skater

Face a goalie and attempt to score a goal (check out the video from previous challenges). Decide each of the following:

• which goalie you want to light up

• whether you want stationary shots or breakaways

  • Breakaways are penalty shot style, where goalie generally starts on the goal line and does not leave crease until skater touches the puck. Puck must move continuously towards the goal once breakaway begins.

  • For stationary shots, ya gotta be stationary. No mini-breakaway action.

For each goal scored on them, our goalies will donate at least $5 to RMHC.

Rebound

Buy a bucket of pucks. One puck at a time. Each puck is a new game of rebound. Each game ends if the pucks is taken out of play. That can include any of the following happen:

• Puck is in the net

• Goalie covers or catches the puck

• Puck goes below the goal line

• Puck touches the boards or netting

• Puck leaves synthetic ice

Rules:

• Use only one (1) puck at a time

• First shot stationary 

• Rebounds

  • Default: No passes between players allowed

  • Add-on: Unlimited passes

  • Add-on: more players

• Cap rebound intervals

  • Minimum 5 puck interval if bucket >= 5 

  • Option to change goalies after every 5 pucks.  

Chaos Bucket

You get AS MANY PUCKS as you want, within a set timeframe.

You decide how long you want to spend with the goalie - 15 seconds, 30 seconds, etc. With your time, you can fire AS MANY PUCKs as you want at the goalie. Note: Only one puck in play at a time.
